Safe Sleep Saves Lives.

Protecting babies across Northeastern Pennsylvania through education, resources, and community collaboration.

Why Safe Sleep Matters

Sleep-related deaths are preventable. Unsafe sleep environments such as co-sleeping, soft bedding, or improper sleep surfaces can significantly increase risk.

By ensuring babies sleep alone, on their backs, in a crib, we can save lives.

About the Initiative

Who We Are

The NEPA Safe Sleep Task Force is a regional collaboration committed to preventing sleep-related infant deaths and promoting safe sleep practices for babies.
The task force brings together professionals from healthcare, child welfare, law enforcement, early childhood services, and community organizations to ensure families receive consistent, life-saving guidance and support.

This initiative was formed in response to local infant deaths and the urgent need for coordinated prevention efforts.

Our Vision

We envision a community where every parent has the knowledge and resources to ensure safe sleep for their infants.

Focus

Through our outreach and collaboration with national organizations, we aspire to raise awareness about safe sleep strategies, fostering a healthier environment for infants across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The ABCs of Safe Sleep

The ABCs of Safe Sleep

Follow the ABCs of Safe Sleep to give your baby the safest possible start, every sleep and every time.

Alone

Babies are safest sleeping alone in their own crib or bassinet. Room sharing is recommended, but bed sharing increases the risk of suffocation and overheating.

Back

Always place your baby on their back for every sleep, including naps and nighttime. This position keeps airways open and significantly reduces the risk of sleep-related death.

Crib

Use a safety-approved crib, bassinet, or pack-and-play with a firm mattress and fitted sheet only. Keep the sleep space empty to prevent suffocation hazards.

Education

We offer workshops and resources aimed at educating parents about the best safe sleep practices for their infants. Our educational efforts ensure that families have the knowledge to make informed decisions.

Resources

Sleep Safe NEPA provides links to community organizations offering classes and crib distribution. These partnerships ensure families have access to safe sleep essentials.

Support

We connect families with local support systems that reinforce safe sleep practices. Our goal is to ensure every parent feels supported in their journey.
